Black and White Diamond Affair... and OCBD

Last night we had our first mixer with the lovely ladies of Alpha Delta Pi. We have the Black and White Diamond Affair every year and this year I really wanted to make a statement. That statement was... "Look here! Look here at my pants!"
I really like these embroidered pant. They are what really made me stand apart from everyone else. I got quite a few looks as well as many complements.

Now I know these are black and white but, I had to have some color in there.

You can never go wrong with a custom fit OCBD.
I think that Oxford cloth is probably my favorite material, and OCBDs are my favorite kind of shirts. The durability of the shirt lets me know that the shirt will last for many years. These are just a few of my OCBDs and I try to put them into rotation as frequent as possible.

Dressing for a Date

My Lady decided that we needed to go on a nice dinner date, so I thought I would surprise her with getting a bit spiffy.

 Tommy Hilfiger bow tie
Brooks Brothers watch and watch band
Custom made Lapel Flower (made by My Lady)
Gray bucks (not sure who makes them)
 Ray Ban Wayfares

 Ralph Lauren pink OCBD
Brooks Brothers navy Jacket

Needless to say it was a wonderful evening, and I enjoyed going out to dinner with my beautiful Lady. I still need to do my post about Vegas, but I'm still collecting pictures. But hopefully it will be up sometime this week.

Date Night with My Lady

My Lady wanted to go on a date, so when I got home from work yesterday I was surprised to see her all dolled up to go out. So I quickly got ready to have a nice evening with a beautiful woman.
Look at this classy lady I had the pleasure of attending dinner and a movie with.
I bought her a Brooks Brothers  Polo for a presentation but instead I got to enjoy
her wearing it on our date.

Ralph Lauren OCBD, IZOD flat fronts, J Press belt, Southern Proper hat
We started the date by going to Longhorn Steakhouse and it was delicious! After that we went to go see the movie The Cabin in the Woods.

My Lady and I have seen quite a few scary movies together, and we have seen all the stereotypical zombie, ghosts, serial killer, and creature features films that are out there. But this movie kept us guessing. I can usually figure out movies after a point, and I thought I did with this movie, but then there was a crazy twist. So if you are a fan of horror films I'd say go see this, just solely on the fact that you will probably say,"What the Hell did I just watch?"

An Afternoon with My Lady

I've decided that Brooks Brother's shorts are now my new favorite.
My Lady and I went out Sunday afternoon to Lebanon to have dinner with my parents and while we were out there we decided to hit up the Ralph Lauren Factory outlet as well as the Brooks Brothers outlet. I picked up a couple of t-shirts from Ralph Lauren, and they are soooooo soft. I love just lounging around in their t-shirts.

I saw a suit there that I really liked. My Lady didn't like the tie, but she did like the colors. What do you think about it? The South's the Limit!

I recently picked up this purple Ralph Lauren button down

Its hard not to enjoy a  good pastel button down especially in the Spring. It just looks so nice! I have a blue and purple... now all I need is green and red! What is your favorite thing to wear in the Spring? The South's the limit!

A Comfortable Fit

I, as many of my other friends, enjoy a nice fitting polo for a warm Spring day. Nothing says its getting nice outside like wearing your favorite polo shirt tucked into a nice pair of chino shorts. I've been trying to expand my collection of polos with a nice variety to colors. I have a few, but as you know I just started to dress this way and my wardrobe isn't quite were I want it to be. I try not to stick to one brand of polos because I know there are tons of different companies out there and all of them make nice, quality clothes. There's the big dogs like Ralph Lauren, Brooks Brothers and Lacoste, but there is also Southern Tide, Vineyard Vines, Southern Proper, Southern Point Co., Coast, Perlis, Gulf Coast, Salmon Cove, and many more. You should check them out if you have never heard of them.
Here's a Brooks Brothers polo I won on ebay
I like this look a lot right now, and even though it might change here or there, I like to reflect on some advice a wise man once gave me "there's never a better time to reinvent yourself than college". Thanks CKC.
And remember, as always, the South's the Limit!

Hats!

As a college student, hats are very important to my wardrobe. In the morning, it doesn't matter how my hair looks, I can just grab a hat and go out the door. I find that wearing hats is the best way to keep my hair in line... (it likes to be unruly), and still look stylish. There just a few things everyone need to know about what kind of hats to wear and what kinds need to see their way out. The kind of hats I normally wear are baseball style caps with an adjustable back. There are many brands that make this style hat like Ralph Lauren, Southern Proper, Volunteer TraditionsSouthern Tide, and many more. Right now I'm rockin the blue Volunteer Traditions Tri Star hat that I got up in Knoxville at M.S. McClellan during a Volunteer Traditions Trunk Show. I love this hat! It literally goes with anything.

Thats me!
Another style of hat is the Ivy cap. I am not one to wear this style, but thats only because I can't really pull it off. I does look good, however, whenever you have on nicer attire (just not on me).

Also some fedoras can look really nice (just stay away from anything badazzled). Here is one from Brooks Brothers
As a southern gentleman there are a few hats one should avoid if you are trying to keep with the southern look. One is the infamous flat bill... I used to wear these alot when I was a scene kid, but the fact of the matter is they just don't look right with southern apparel.

This is just sad....

Another one to avoid is the beanie... this one is just because you don't wanna look like a pot head, and thats basically it.
Nothing about this says "Southern Prep"... Also he looks lost...
Hats can be a great accessorry when putting together a nice outfit, and now you know what hats to go with and what hat to go a head and give to the Good Will... or burn, your choice. But as always... The South's the Limit!
